Hurricane Katrina

Hurricane Katrina was 1 of the 5 strongest hurricanes that ever hit the United States and it was the 6th strongest Atalntic hurricane.

Hurricane Katrina started on the 23rd of August 2005 and stopped on the 31st of August 2005.

Hurricane Katrina was the 5th Hurricane to hit in 2005's Hurricane season.

The first place it hit was the North Central Gulf Coast causing alot of damage.

Next it hit Mississippi afterthat Alabama.

Then it crossed into the Bahamas next Southern Florida causing more deaths and flooding.

Afterthat it hit the Gulf of Mexico and became one of the strongest hurricane at sea.

The other places Hurricane Katrina hit were Cuba and Panhandle.

After the Hurricane the Chandeluere Islands were totally wiped out with water.

The most damage and deaths was in New Orleans Louisiana where water went up to approximatley 15 ft high which is three times the tallest person in our class.

The highest winds were about 175 mph which is 280 km per hour.

There were buildings demolished and the damage cost around $81.2 billion dollars(WOW that's alot)

80% of New Orleans was flooded.

More than 1,836 people died making it the deadliest hurricane since the Okeechobee.

After the Hurricane men went around checking houses to see if everyone was out after they had checked they put a red corss on the door.

Even today there are still some people who still are not aloud in there houses and some of the damage is still not fixed.
